ISWNE newspaper members can apply for a college or university student internship through the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors (ISWNE) Foundation. The interns will work 40 hours per week for eight weeks, typically from June 1 to August 1. The exact dates can be negotiated with the newspapers. Each intern will be paid $10 per hour, for a total of $3,200. The ISWNE Foundation will contribute $1,600; each participating ISWNE member newspaper will contribute $1,600.The ISWNE member newspaper will provide or assist the student in finding suitable accommodations for the eight-week internship. The intern is expected to pay for the accommodations if there is a cost. Travel expenses to the newspaper will be paid by the intern.The internship can be done for academic credit, or for the experience only. The intern must pay for any internship course-related tuition and fees. Potential interns must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours and have at least one semester remaining before graduation. The deadline to complete application is Dec. 1, 2018.
